What is used in EIGRP metric calculation?

    A. maximum bandwidth on the path
    B. Option about bandwidth
    C. average bandwidth on the path
    D. minimum bandwidth on the path
    Answer D

    Reference https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/ios-nx-os-software/enhanced-interior-gateway-routing-protocol-eigrp/whitepaper_C11-720525.html
By default, EIGRP uses only the bandwidth & delay parameters to calculate the metric (metric = bandwidth + delay). In particular, EIGRP uses the slowest bandwidth of the outgoing interfaces of the route to calculate the metric as follows:

    Network virtualization solution EVN:
    • Provides a pure IP alternative to MPLS in enterprise networks for up to 32 VNs
    • Uses existing enterprise design/architecture/protocols
    • Uses existing technology to increase the effectiveness of VRFs
    • Provides either an IGP (OSPF, EIGRP) only or IGP/EGP-based alternative Reintroduces familiar concepts for access and trunks to Layer 3
    • Can be deployed with traditional MPLS VPNs or MPLS VPNs over mGRE
    • Can coexist with Multi-VRF deployments
    • Supports non-IP and IPv6 traffic through the EVN global table
    • Supports PIM and IGMP with SM and SSM modes for mVPN

“Queries and replies are sent when destinations go into Active state. Queries are always multicast unless they are sent in response to a received query. In this case, it is unicast back to the successor that originated the query. Replies are always sent in response to queries to indicate to the originator that it does not need to go into Active state because it has feasible successors. Replies are unicast to the originator of the query. Both queries and replies are transmitted reliably. ”

“EIGRP uses the following five types of packets:

Hello—Hello packets are used for neighbor discovery. They are sent as multicasts and do not require an acknowledgment. (They carry an acknowledgment number of 0.)
Update—Update packets contain route change information. An update is sent to communicate the routes that a particular router has used to converge; an update is sent only to affected routers. These updates are sent as multicasts when a new route is discovered, and when convergence is completed (when the route becomes passive). To synchronize topology tables, updates are sent as unicasts to neighbors during their EIGRP startup sequence. Updates are sent reliably.
Query—When a router is performing route computation and does not have a feasible successor, it sends a query packet to its neighbors, asking if they have a successor to the destination. Queries are normally multicast but can be retransmitted as unicast packets in certain cases; they are sent reliably.
Reply—A reply packet is sent in response to a query packet. Replies are unicast to the originator of the query and are sent reliably.
ACK—The ACK is used to acknowledge updates, queries, and replies. ACK packets are unicast hello packets and contain a nonzero acknowledgment number. (Note that hello and ACK packets do not require acknowledgment.)”

    a.query
    b.reply
    c.request

    e.update

    ANS D

“For example, on a multi-access network that has multicast
capabilities, such as Ethernet, it is not necessary to send HELLOs
reliably to all neighbors individually. EIGRP sends a single
multicast HELLO with an indication in the packet informing the
receivers that the packet need not be acknowledged. Other types of
packets, such as UPDATE packets, require acknowledgment and this is
indicated in the packet. The reliable transport has a provision to
send multicast packets quickly when there are unacknowledged packets
pending. This helps ensure that convergence time remains low in the
    presence of varying speed links”

    Hi all,

Several Dumps has this answer, but looking for an explanation I found this post of student in may of this year. Do you have a proper explanation of why it should be AB?

Which two statements about Frame Relay Point-to-Point connections are true? (Choose Two)

    A. Changing a point-to-point sub interface to a different type requires the device to be reloaded.
    B. They use two DLCIs to communicate with multiple endpoints over the Frame Relay cloud.
    C. The device can establish a point-to-point connection to the cloud without a DLCI.
    D. They can operate normally without a DLCI map.
    E. Each physical interface that extends to the Frame Relay cloud can support a single SVC.

    my answer is AD

  35. R’hllor
    July 21st, 2018

    Source

On point-to-point subinterfaces, you do not need to use the frame-relay map command to perform static address mapping, because it is always assumed that the end point of the point-to-point connection automatically resides on the same subnet as the start point. It is also not required to enable or disable Inverse ARP, because there is only a single remote destination on a point-to-point PVC and discovery is not necessary.

    Hello all,

    Another question over here:

    From @nneettwwrrookkiinnggg dump QUESTION 480

Using new backup router in spite of faulty one in ospf domain but the relationship with a neighbour in one interface only not working, what is the reason of this problem? (Choose Two)
    A. area Id match
    B. authentication mismatch
    C. process id of ospf not match
    D. ospf timers not match
    E. MTU mismatch

    ANS DE

The problem here is that authentication can be done per-interface basis, so that means that a mismatch only in that neighbour can fail.

The other thing that bothers me is that MTU mismatch doesn’t necessarily block an adjacency to form. I understand that it might reach even the state of Exstart where they start exchanging DBD. In that state, one package can have an MTU bigger than the configured in the other router so it gets discarded and they get stuck in that state.

    ANS should be BD.
